All furniture indicated by the auctioneer have been designed by Bob Saretsky.  They are all prototypes, meaning that there is only one piece or one set made, same for the chairs.  Some wood such as ebony is no longer used  in furniture production because it has become a rare and expensive.  Ebony veneer can still be bought for use in very exclusive furniture.

• Set of daggers from Yeman, blades are new but the fiigree on the handles and sheathes are old.  Silver plated with very intricate silver work.  Handle on the big dagger is amber.  These two different daggers were worn together

• Straight blade antique Kris form Indonesia with mahogany handle and damascus steel blade.  A kris was worn not only for physical protection but also spiritual protection. 

• Cottage craft eagle  made of recycled tin oil cans or whatever else is available.  Half is finished and the top half is not painted showing the different oil cans used.

• From Afghanistan, nomad embroidered prayer cloth.  At least 50 years old.  For Nomads, these cloths were light wieght and easy to carry instead of carpets. (3)

• Afghanistan embroidered cushions and table cloth

• From Iran, hand printed table cloth using block print, about 40 years old.

• From Bulgaria, small table cloth celebrating 30 years of communism in Bulgaria.  Was a gift in 1976

• Ebony wood horse

• Wooden carved owls, wood not known.

• From England, part of a toilet set containing wash basin, towel pail, and small vase.  Before 1900.  At one time the basin was repaired using metal staples as such to bind the crack.  A very old technique.  This is all that is left of a complete set as it suffered damage upon shipping to Canada

• From Southern Germany after 1850.  Wooden cross with the bisque porcelain Christ figure and decorative bone or ivory tips of the crosss

• Antique wood carving from Indonesia

• From Papua New Guinea, ancestral food bowls honoring the tribes ancestors.  Colors are from  natural materials such as charcoal, ochre's, and other earth pigments.  Over 50 years old

• Drum from Papua New Guinea, snake skin top.  About 50 years old, used in ceremonial dances

• Antique Batik stamps from Indonesia, all copper pieces are hand cut and placed into a design and later soldered together.  Making these stamps is very labor intensive and are now very rare in Indonesia.

• Antique Daiyak tribe sculptures from Kalimantan Island, Indonesia.

• Old medicine containers form Indonesia.  Made of ebony and bone

• Very delicate porcelain bowl, maybe from China.

• 2 large decorative bowls with lid.  Celadon glaze with hand painted decorations

• 2 large urns with celadon glaze and hand painted decorations

• Old cracker tin from Indonesia

• Copper finger print plates for doors.  Custom designed by Bob Saretsky and sand casted in Indonesia

• Designed pedestal legs by Bob Saretsky, hand carved from sand stone in Indonesia.  Very labor intensive.

• Lamps designed by Bob Saretsky.  Hand carved stone bases with sand blasted glass lamp shades.  Wood is wenge.

• Table legs designed by Bob Saretsky made from a wood base and covered with egg shell technique.   Made in Thailand.  This technique is hundreds of years old and was used on furniture in france in 1910-30 but was to expensive and labor intensive.  Upon a black base which is the natural color of a resin from a tree in Thailand,  chicken and duck eggs are laid in the wet resin.  This is all done by hand.  It is then sanded smooth.

• 6 antique raffle chairs, named after captain raffles, the founder of Singapore and Governor of Indonesia during the Britsh occupation during the Dutch- English war.  The chairs are at least 60 years old and made of teak wood  and are from Indonesia.

• Art Deco (about 1920) zinc vase with traces of gold detailing.  A Dutch colonial piece from Indonesia

• Dutch colonial travel case, dates before the Japanese occupation of Indonesia in 1940

• Ceremonial sea shell trumpet from India, hand crafted

• Beautiful French Art Noveau, before 1910 glass bowl.  This would be a museum piece if the foot was no broken off the bowl

• English nanny chair from around 1880, bought in Amsterdam

• A Canadian Victorian loves seat, completely restored

• American metal chime clock

• Carved wooden crucifix, art deco style

• German world atlas from 1898, interesting to see Saskatchewan before it became a province

• A fruit press, this is from St. Peters Abby, Muenster, SK and was used for years by the monks and kitchen staff when the monastery was also a boys school

• Kitchen cupboard with top china display cabinet, also from St. Peters Abbey, Muenster, SK

• An old bread spade used to take bread out of a wood or coal burning oven, it is from Pakistan

• Low tables with tatami cushions, meant for yoga and meditation
